The family unit of whales usually numbers 10-50 individuals. Groups of several hundred are also common. Whales are highly social. Whales prefer mainly offshore waters in deep tropi-cal, subtropical and warm temperate seas. Whales are found in all oceans of the world. Whales prey mainly upon squids, dolphin fishes, perches, bonitos, salmons, yellow tails and mackerels.
